Meeting Minutes: June 15, 2006 – Brown Shingle
The meeting was called to order by President Belinger at 19:13 hours with the Pledge of Allegiance. Mary Ann McLarty, Program Coordinator for MDA spoke on the upcoming "Fill the Boot" campaign. If your department wishes to participate in this program, please contact her at MCCLARTY@MDAUSA.ORG.
A moment of silence was observed for the Men and Women who have paid the price in sacrifice and those whom now serve. You are always remembered !
The May minutes were presented and stand approved as read. A motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer's report as presented.
Committee Reports:
Training:
• President Belinger is looking to secure people and several dates for a "Light and Fight" weekend.
• Amboy Fire will present an EMT basic course starting in August. Contact them directly if interested.
• Mendota and Sublette participated in a joint "Ladder Tower" training exercise last month. They will be expanding the program later this year.
• BFFA will sponsor a series of First Responder Classes as we had discussed over the last year. We will sponsor this training at different locations over the next year to offer membership access to this training near them.
• Loves Park will hold a IFSI Basic Company Officer class on July 8th.
• BTLS Class at Franklin Grove Fire Dept. July 8th & 9th
• BLS for Healthcare Providers, July 17th at OSF Saint Anthony Med. Center
Safety: We are still looking for a chairperson for the Safety Committee. If you’re interested please contact Brad Belanger.

Fundraising: Tickets for the BFFA 50/50 Fund Raiser for January, 2007 are now available.

Website: Vice President Jim Gordon will be unavailable for most of July due to back surgery on July 7th. He will spend a week in Saint Anthony, so the website will not be updated after July 6th for a few weeks until he is back home and well enough to update the website.
Old Business:
We are still looking for a date to sponsor a Spanish class.
Mendota Fire will have "Journey Through the Heartland" books on sale soon. Price will be $25.00. This is a very moving publication. Contact Dean Ege for details.
Confined space trailer: Availability and schedule will be posted on the web site..
TRT validation was held in May. Congratulations for all the hard work! A number of BFFA member departments have certified. Some of the towns were: Dekalb City, Sycamore and Mendota
New Business:
Byron Fire Department will be sponsoring a conference with two nationally renowned speakers. They are looking for funding assistance. This will be discussed further at next month's meeting.
Secretary Stoffa is to get two quotes for an outside audit. He will report back at the July meeting.
Mark Baker from Farmedic gave a brief presentation on training and how to contact the National Training Center to schedule a program. You can contact Mark at baker4@aeroinc.net.
